This year one of my personal goals is to use my camera more. That might sound a little crazy coming from a professional photographer, but the truth is, I use my camera so much for work, that I rarely bring it out just for myself, unless we’re traveling. This year I want to be more intentional about using my camera to capture the day to day stuff too. My iPhone is filled with more than 10,000 photos I have taken in the day to day over the last 6 months (no joke, I have to clean that thing of 2-3 times a year) but my hard drives are filled mostly with client images.
So for 2017, I have committed to a 52 Week Photo Project alongside my friends Meagan and Laney. We have a theme for each week, and every Friday, I’ll be posting my photo for that week over on Instagram and here on the blog.
This week’s challenge was: Me, in the beginning.
Truth be told, I was a little nervous about this first one. 2016 was a difficult year in many ways and I’m no pro at the self portrait, but I had fun with it. Being that one of my other personal goals for this year is more rest and more time with my toes in the sand, I’ve intentionally hit the beach twice already this week, and grabbed a shot of me doing what I love to do most: explore.
As it turns out, winter was scheduled for this week in Florida, so I’ve got my parka on, but it’s never too cold for the beach.
